Kurved: The Solution to the Skin-Aging Curve

Founded by a former Korean news anchor, Kurved reframes the whole project of growing older. Not anti-aging but slow aging: a philosophy of honoring your skin's rhythm and treating longevity as a living practice.

34 · 60 · 78. Do these numbers mean anything to you? They should, if skin is your business. In 2019, Stanford researchers studying the proteins in human blood found that aging doesn't arrive evenly. It comes in bursts. Working across nearly 4,300 people, they pinpointed three ages at which age-related proteins surge all at once, and the first lands at 34, well before most of us would think to start looking. The other two follow at 60 and 78.

Kurved, as the name rather gives away, is built around that curve, and around the first shift especially. Kurved premise is that skincare is a matter of timing as much as ingredients, of knowing when to act and not only what to apply. The brand's answer to the 34 mark is a hybrid peptide, patented across four countries, formulated to meet the curve rather than chase its aftermath.

The Anchor Who Felt It First

For most of her twenties, So-Young Kim spent upward of ten hours a day under broadcast lighting in full television makeup. As a national news anchor in Korea, a flawless on-camera complexion was effectively part of the job, and for years her skin held up. to the demands of it.

Then her thirties arrived. "My skin became sensitive much faster, and it recovered more slowly," she says of the shift. The tightness and dehydration she could once ignore began settling into fine lines, and the routines that had carried her through her twenties stopped delivering the same results.

That personal turning point became the brand. Kurved organizes itself around a single number, 34, which it identifies as the first meaningful inflection on what it calls the Skin Aging Curve.

So Young Kim

Yangsaeng, Translated

The philosophy behind it is older than any of the biotech. In Korea, yangsaeng (양생) describes a long tradition of tending to health and resilience before decline sets in, favouring steady, preventive ritual over dramatic repair. Kurved positions its science as a modern translation of that idea: NMN and hybrid peptides as what the brand calls bioactive signals that speak to the skin's own renewal process. Where fermentation once coaxed potency out of grains and ginseng, the brand argues, biotechnology now does something comparable at a molecular level.

That reframing is Kurved's whole posture. Anti-aging, the reasoning goes, sells an impossible promise to reverse time; slow aging concedes that you can't stop the clock but can shape how gracefully you move through it.

Out of Korea, Into the World

For a long time Kurved was a Korea-only story. That is changing quickly. The brand says its Olive Young launch hit No. 1 on arrival, and rising demand from overseas shoppers prompted it to open a US site at kurved.skin. Kurved's NMN Peptide Gel Mask, billed as the first gel mask formulated with NMN, now ships via Amazon US and TikTok Shop US alongside the rest of the range, and Kim expects the map to keep widening beyond North America.

One product is staying home, at least for now. Kurved's Vitamin C Glutathione Skin Fit Cushion is a "skincare-ing" cushion that folds brightening, high-functional actives into base makeup, and the brand credits it with helping to define that category in the Korean market. It sold well enough to anchor two pop-ups in Seongsu and to draw partnership interest across East Asia. As an SPF product, though, it sits behind the skincare line on the road to global release, so it remains a Korea-only proposition for the time being.

If you want to start where the rest of the world is starting, Kurved NMN Peptide Gel Mask is the obvious entry point, and the clearest expression of what Kurved is selling: the notion that the smartest time to think about aging skin is slightly before you think you need to.
